Simple dokla or cake prepare with rice and coconut. Very easy to prepare and also very tasty snack item. All kids will definitely like it’s taste. My mother used to prepare this delicious sweet dish while my childhood days. Myself and my sister likes very much. After a long time, I learnt this simple cake recipe from my sister. Without oven, we can make this yummy dish, that too in short time. Only raw rice and coconut are the main ingredients for making this dish. I spread chopped dry fruits on the top. I used sugar syrup for sweetness. In the batter also I added little sugar. We can add more sugar in batter itself without making sugar syrup. My hubby likes with the sugar syrup only. Wash the raw rice and soak for at least 30 mins to 1 hour. Grate the coconut.
After 1 hour, grind the soaked rice with grated coconut as fine paste. Transfer the batter to the container. In a small bowl, take 1/4 cup of water and add dried yeast for foaming. Add the yeast foamed water in the batter. Add salt and sugar and mix well. Keep the batter closed and leave it for 5-6 hours in room temperature. After that the batter will be doubled.
Greece ghee in a flat plate, pour the batter and spread chopped dry fruits.
Heat water in idlt pot or dokla pot. Keep the batter plate on the pot and close the idly pot.
After 5-6 minutes, the cake will be cooked. Check with the toothpick whether the cake is cooked. It should be without sticky.Wait till the dokla completely cool down. Slightly cut the edges with the knife and transfer to the serving plate and cut the cake in your own decorative shapes.For the syrup boil the sugar and water in a bowl. Add cardamon and boil till the sugar immersed. Pour the sugar syrup on the top of the cake.
