Kalyana rasam…Rasam is a simple and tasty recipe and it is placed an important role in all South Indian families. There are different kinds of rasam recipe. Pepper rasam,  Lemon rasam, tomato rasam etc.. I already posted pepper rasam for you. Today, I’m going to post an interesting recipe of South India,.. Kalyana rasam. This type of rasam is mostly prepared in all the marriage functions. Usually, for preparing any type of rasam, I used to add garlic. But, for preparing Kalyana rasam, no need to add garlic. First of all, we need to prepare rasam powder. All parties or Virunthu in Tamil will not be completed without rasam. Come let us see, how to prepare yet another tasty and simple traditional recipe of South India,.. Kalyana rasam.

Preparation time         :  10 Mins

Cooking time               :  5 Mins

Serve for                       :  4 Persons

Ingredients :
For rasam powder:

Dry coriander seeds   : 1 Tsp

Pepper                          :  1 Tsp

Cumin seeds(Jeera)  :  1 Tsp

Red chilly                    :  1 No

For rasam:

Cooked toor dhal  : 1/2 Cup

Tamarind                :  1 Lemon size

Tomato                    :  2 Nos

Turmeric powder  :  1/4 Tsp

Asafoatida powder:  1/4 Tsp

Salt                           :  To taste

Oil                            : 1 Tsp

Mustard seeds      :  1 Tsp

Dry methy seeds  :  1/4 Tsp

Curry Leaves        :  Few

Coriander leaves : Few

Method:

Dry fry the ingredients which needs to prepare rasam powder.Grind the fried items in coarse powder.Wash 2 tomatoes and crush with the blender.Extract tamarind pulp and add crushed tomatoes, turmeric powder and salt.Allow it to boil for 1 minute. Add cooked toor dhal or sambar dhal and coarsely ground rasam powder.Add asafoatida powder and cook for another 2-3 minutes.In a tempering ladle, add 1 tsp of oil. After oil heats, put mustard seeds, dry methy seeds(venthayam). Let the seeds pops, add curry leaves.

Pour the tempering into the rasam and keep it in low flame for 1 minute.

Transfer the hot yummy rasam in the serving bowl and garnish with the fresh coriander leaves.Try this traditional rasam recipe and please post your valuable comments.
