Mini piffs in Homemade puff pastry sheets… Puffs is one of the best and very popular bakery items in India. I like very much to eat puffs from my childhood itself. I tried this mini twisted puffs with homemade puff pastry. It only needed two ingredients. One is maida and another one is butter. Only these two ingredients are the main ingredients for making puff pastry. We can prepare the pastry sheets and keep it in refrigerator(freezer) for minimum 1 or 2 weeks. But we need some time to prepare the sheets. The pastry sheets are layered with butter inside. So that, it will be fluffy with layers and fried in butter when it cooks in oven. We can make a lot of different recipes using this yummy pastry sheets. I made mini twisted puffs without any stuffing. This mini puff was very delicious and so soft. Preserve for : 1 Month
Maida : 150 Grm
Unsalted Butter : 200 Grm
Salt : 1 Tsp
Take a mixing bowl, add 150 grams of maida, 50 grams of unsalted butter with 1 tsp of salt.Crumble and mix the flour with butter. Add ice water little by little to make dough.Kneed the dough to make soft and cover it with the plastic cover or foil papper in freezer for 10 mins.After 10 mins, takeout the soft dough and spread with rolling spin. Place the butter on the center of the dough. Fold the dough over the butter until fully cover the butter.Press the covered dough with the hands gently. Dust some flour over it and spread with rolling spin softly. If you feel more sticky, we can dust more flour. Fold the spread sheets, dust some flour and wrap with polythene cover. Keep it in freezer for 20 mins.
After 20 minutes, take out the folded sheet and dust some flour and spread it again gently with rolling spin.
Again fold the dough, dust flour and cover the sheets that is folded and keep it in freezer for another 20 mins. This is the second time, we are folding. We need to do the same process for another 2 times. So we need to fold and spread for minimum 4 times and keep it freezer for 20 minutes on each time. On the whole we need 2 hrs to make this sheets. Before making puffs, we need to freeze the sheet at least for 2 hrs or overnight.Before doing the mini puffs, keep the sheets in room temperature to become soft and cut the sheets for the puffs.Spread the sheets after dusting. Cut the sheets into small pieces.Fold the cut piece in the center and twist it gently.
Place the twisted sheets in oil or butter greased baking plate and bake in preheated oven in 220 degree Celsius for 20 minutes.Hmmmm.. The soft and crispy mini puffs is ready to serve with tomato ketch up or sauce.
