- Vazhaithandu vada…Plantain stem vada… Vada is one of the popular snack item in South India. We are all make different types of vada in our kitchen also like.. Dal vada, urad dal vada, banana flower vada , Cauliflower vada etc.. But making vada with using vazhaithandu or banana stem is totally different and very healthy. Banana stem gives the vada crunchy feeling while eating. I already posted the health benefits of vahzithandu in my earlier post.. Vazhaithandu soup. If we make this yummy snack item using banana stem, no one will identify this vada is made with banana stem. Healthy, tasty snack dish with easy preparation. Let us prepare this banana stem vada at out home to make everyone healthy.
Wash and soak chana dal for minimum 30 minutes to 1 hour.Takeout the outer ring of banana stem and peel off the inner skin.Make discs over the stem, cut it in small pieces and soak it in buttermilk.In a blender grind red chilies, garlic and fennel seeds.Add soaked dal removing water and grind it with chilies. We are making coarse grind.Transfer the ground dal mixer and add chopped onions, coconut pieces. I’m adding chopped lettuce also to make more healthy and tasty.Now we are adding vazhaithandu that is soaked in butter milk along with chopped mint leaves and coriander leaves.Mix well with adding salt to taste and make lemon sized balls over the dal mix.Heat oil r deep fry, press the vada mix ball flatten in your hand and put into the hot oil.The should be hot, otherwise the vada will separates. Let it be cooked 2 minutes in medium flame.After 2 mins of cooking vada, then turn other side to fry.Fry till golden brown color comes. Now the crispy tasty vada is ready to serve.Try this tasty vada and be healthy.
